FAQ
Who pays the fee?
One fee of 25%, VAT included. You pay it only if the airline pays you: no win, no fee, nothing up front. Plus 15% only if it goes to court, 40% in all, again only if the airline pays.
What does FlyHandled cost?
Checking your flight and following it are free. On a claim we handle, the fee is 25% of what the airline pays, plus 15% only if it goes to court, and nothing if it pays nothing.
Can I claim for free without you?
Yes. You can write to the airline yourself for free and, if it refuses or doesn't answer, complain to the national enforcement body (in Romania, the consumer protection authority, ANPC) or ask the European Consumer Centre for help (in Romania, ECC Romania), also for free. Come to us when the airline has refused or ignored your claim, when you would rather not deal with it or when you would like us to take it further: to the enforcement body and, if needed, to court through our partner lawyer. Our check is free, and our fee applies only if you get paid.
Which flights are covered?
Under EU and UK rules, any flight leaving the EU or the UK, and flights arriving there on an EU or UK airline. The check also knows the rules of other countries.
Under 3 hours late?
Under 3 hours at arrival, there's no compensation amount. After a long wait, the airline should still offer food and drink.
My flight was cancelled. Am I owed money?
It can qualify if the airline told you less than 14 days before the flight. With 14 days' notice or more, it usually doesn't.
I missed a connection. Does it count?
Only if you reached your final destination 3 hours late or more because of the first flight, with both on one booking.
The airline blamed the weather?
Severe weather is an extraordinary circumstance and can block the cash. Not every delay put down to weather is one.
Does the airline owe me food or a hotel?
Care is separate from cash: food after a long wait, a hotel if you're stuck overnight. The airline provides it. We don't book it.
What if my bag was lost, late or damaged?
The Montreal Convention sets a limit of about 1,519 SDR. A ceiling, not a promise. We prepare the letter to the airline.
What do I need?
For the check, the flight number and date. For the claim, your booking reference and the passengers' names. A boarding pass helps if you have one.
How long does it take?
The check takes about 2 minutes. How fast the airline answers is up to the airline.
How far back can I claim?
It depends on the country. On many EU routes you can often claim up to 3 years back.
Does tracking cost anything?
No. Tracking, alerts and checking your rights are free.
What does Pro add?
The plane coming in and the delay it makes likely, the connection check, calendar sync and every year of your journal. The first 7 days are free. With the yearly plan, we take what you paid for Pro off your claim fee, once a year.
If the airline refuses, we take it further, including to court, through our partner lawyer. You pay nothing in advance.
